Treating your hair during these cold winter months

Condition Those Tresses

It goes without saying: deep conditioning the hair during the winter is essential. Between indoor heat (particularly radiator heat), wind and hats, the hair takes quite a beating. Every two weeks, treat hair to an intense treatment or mask. I provide these at my studio during my Margarita Maintenance Mondays every 1st and 3rd week in the month. These treatments rejuvenate your hair and keep it healthy says, Trayce Madre.

Seal the Cuticle

When the hair shaft is roughed up and the cuticle is lifted, hair appears dull and damaged. To keep locks looking healthy and full of shine, seal the cuticle. The two simplest ways to get and keep it closed: rinse the hair with cool water before exiting the shower and use the nozzle attachment on your blow dryer to streamline the airflow downward.

Get a Great Hair Cut

"Great looking hair starts with a great cut. It ensures your hair looks its best during the winter months, " says celebrity extension guru Trayce Madre. Plus, when you get a good cut, it requires less heat and product styling, which means less damage to the hair. If hair is left out while wearing your extensions, make sure that hair is trimmed every 6 weeks.

Reduce Shampooing

If you can get away with it, shampoo less. "Over shampooing strips the hair of its natural oils," says Trayce Madre, and those natural oils are what keep the scalp and your hair healthy. If you have hair that needs to be more often, try a sulfate-free shampoo for your extensions like the KeraCare Weaves and Maintenance Line sold at my private studio for $35.00. They're less drying and irritating to the scalp, which is particularly important in the dead of winter.

African American Women arent the only ones that wear weaves.

So someone forward me this email saying OMG!  Trayce did you know that we werent the only ones that wore weaves Kourtney Kardashian has one too.  I said yes dear we get to caught up to what we think that we can be so oblivious to things sometimes.    I have done my signature sewn in weaving technique on all different ethnicites.  The best thing for all women is the ability to tuck your hair away and sew in fullness and length instantly.  Some people think that sew ins are damaging to the hair, but that could be the furthest thing from the truth.  Its how its installed and how you maintain your hair.  My clients know I tell them hair is hair.  From straight, medium or curly to fine to coarse, just treat the texture and density and everything else will take care of itself!!

Tell me what you think!!

The New Extension Guru

Excellence is achieved once passion meets skill and ability. This concept is proven greatly in the vast world of hair care, where though many possess the interest in working in this field, very few own the skills necessary to be considered one of the elite. Trayce Madre is chief in this department.

Trayce's gifts become quickly apparent upon meeting her and witnessing the sheer enthusiasm she holds for her work. Whether she has been hired for a mass production, or is creating within her private studio, Trayce approaches everything with the same level of professionalism and finesse. This eye for detail has made Trayce one of the most sought after technicians in Chicago.

Trayce currently boasts over 55 certifications making her efficient in coloring, cutting, and extension application. She has enhanced her experience by working with the likes of Redken, Affirm, Sebastian, Matrix, Joico, Indigo, Mizani, Tigi, Scruples, and Jalyd. Through this, Trayce has developed a superior style of cutting that gives her clients a "razor" look using a precision shear. Her technique embodies excellence as she demands that all extension applications fit the client's facial and head shape first, then be cut in the same direction hair would naturally fall to maintain a realistic look.
